Puzzling British Road Signs: Part 4


I'm back. I have a lot of stuff (including blogging) to do, so I'm starting with the easiest ones.

Say what? What in heavens name is a groyne or whatever that thing is called!

I sort of hate to spoil the mystery, but Groynes are breakwaters - they are concrete piers that extend out from the beach into the water. They must protect the beach in some way. We have them along the coast here and I remember them in Lake Michigan when I was a child.
