A Good Thing and a Not So Good Thing

A Good Thing: We use ice cube bags here to make ice cubes. We don't have an ice maker in our minimal fridge, and these work so much better than tippy, spilly ice cube trays. You just fill them with water right at the tap. They miraculously do not allow water to escape when they are full and then you just throw them in the freezer. You can see at the bottom of the bag where we have squeezed out two of them for tonight's gin and tonic.

A Not So Good Thing: I bought these Raw Kale Chips today because I was curious. The COG laughed hilariously as I read the package to him while we tasted them.   They are 'Organic/Raw/Vegan/Gluten-free/Lactose-free/ Trans-fat free/ No added sugar/ Soya free / GMO free/ No MSG or artificial additives.

They contain only curly kale, cashew nuts, nutritional yeast, purple corn extract, purple corn flour, and Himalayan crystal salt.

They cost £3, look (and taste) like cigarette ash.  They are raw, (though dried at a low temperature, so I guess that doesn't count as cooking?). There are lots of people here who follow a completely raw diet. But, were I to follow an all raw diet, kale chips would not be on the menu.

I decided to eat the package as it had more nutritional value.

I'm surprised that plastic bag ice cubes haven't caught on here! Is it the dominance of the big box fridge?

The kale chips that I had were tasty enough, though I probably could just nibbled on salt without the fragile green dust.
