It has been pouring rain here for 4 days. Our yard has merged with the swamp beyond. Our basement, too, seems to have yearnings in that direction. Not complaining, though. I love the sound of rain. I love waking up and falling asleep to the sound of rain. And I kind of like the way our yard changes with the weather and the seasons.

True, everyone here has been saying things like:
At least we still have power so the sump pump works.
or
If this were 4 days of snow, we'd be shovelling now.
Yeah, wow. So when you decide to sell your house, maybe you should put your sign out in July or August, during a dry spell? Having a charming pond and a nature preserve in the back takes on a different aspect when one figures in sump pumps, power outages and flooding.
