The COG and I drove our Mini up the coastal road to Portland to celebrate Valentine's Day. I saw this house and fell in love. The first and second pictures show more detail. The third picture shows the whole property of house and attached stables/barn whatever.

Is that modern bric-a-brac or does it date from the 1850s?
Not modern. It must date from the early to mid 19th century. The whole area (Kennebunkport) was filled with wonderful late 18th to mid 19th century mansions. Presumably lot of rich ships captains there building wonderful houses.
